Lifecam won’t come online

Post by Awickedwench »

Help! I am a new user and can’t get more than two of my Microsoft Q2F-00013 USB 2.0 LifeCams to show up at a time. I have 11 on my system and if I unplug one a different one will show up. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Is there somebody who can help me. We have verified everything from installing the software to rebooting the system to verifying with the actual computer that all of the cameras are showing up but when we are in blue Iris we cannot get them to show up and we get error messages

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I think that may be a limitation of the USB driver rather than BI5 itself. Please send an email to support to see if they have come across this before.

It is possible that each usb controller can handle only one or two cameras - did you plug them all into the back of the pc ? You may be able to get four working by plugging two into the front, and two into the back. Please experiment and let us know what happens.

Hi, the logic here is that if you can get four cameras working by plugging two into a different controller (front panel ?), then you will know that BI5 isn't the problem, and also that you could potentially add more usb controllers to get more usb cameras working.

Or did you already plug eleven usb cameras in to your pc, and only two work ?

A Google search shows that usb controller bandwidth may be an issue with more than two usb cameras. Sounds familiar...

Can you let us know why do you think that you should be able to use eleven ?

I believe BI5 will use the manufacturers driver for usb cameras, so if their driver will support eleven usb cameras, then BI5 probably will too.
