For me, this occurred with 5.8.0.16, as well as 5.8.1.0 and 5.8.1.1
I have gone back to 5.7.9.12 on three installations.

I am not sure if the config makes the difference why even 5.8.1.1 still had the issue...
All the installations utilize NEW, STORED and AUX1

With all 5.8.xx versions, NEW just keeps going until it fills the disk space, then Disk Full errors.
5.8.1.1 (and probably 5.8.1.0) seems to detect that there is some issue and logs that is is Running Repair but the repair doesn't help.
Storage in Status Window incorrectly indicates DB size 0.
There are no log entries indicating any attempted moves or deletes.
Rebuilding the DB, even Delete and Regenerate, did not help.

Ken appears to be fixing issues with drives. I can only guess that these changes don't affect my Win11 pc with internal hard drives (Three removable caddies on the front) but do affect external drives of all sorts. I'd better rtfm

Found that my NAS storage locations had to be set as 'Managed Folder Unmanaged Drive' to get things working.
Otherwise, the problem persisted.
I suspect that that setting might have also worked for previous 5.8.x.x versions.
