BI v5 - PC & Switch advice.

Hey Guys,
Im about to purchase BI v5 and got a bit lost of which Pc configuration and Switch is best.

Been a small wine bar... Is the below specs will do the job for 8 ip cams using the below Switch and Pc?
also, Can i use external USB 3 Caddy for my 8TB Sky Hawk surveillance within this System?

Wow that is quite expensive. I got my switch, a HP 2530 POE+ from Facebook marketplace for £20 plus around £10 in fuel.

Not too sure what it’s like in Aus but might be worth having a look unless it needs to be new?

An external usb drive may power down which would freak BI5 out. It depends on the drive ! Internal preferred.

Is that ethernet switch managed ? Do you need it to be ? Unmanaged may be cheaper. I would always go for one with more ports than you need ready for an unknown expansion. Not enough cameras

I will using an external USB 3 Caddy - 8TB Sky Hawk surveillance grade... not normal SSD.
No i dont need managed ... but this switch is ok and fairly cheap.

Whats your thoughts?

Go for it, but note that a caddy won't give any cooling airflow over the hdd which could reduce its life.

I did a cpu comparison online and found your chosen cpu to be about as powerful as the i5-3330 I retired from my BI5 rig two years ago. Your cpu will work with a few 2MP cameras, but it will certainly stall if you try higher MP cameras or AI. Cutting fps down to 10 and using all the other tricks might make it work, but I would suggest a beefier cpu if you want more than two or three cameras.

A common cpu for BI5 would be an i7-7700. I am presently using an i7-8700k.
