Using Blue Iris as a viewer for Axis camera recordings?

Post by jkolkoatx »

I've been happily recording my Axis cameras to my Qnap for years, and then viewing the recordings using Axis Companion. Now, they are sunsetting Companion with no replacement.

Is there a way to continue using the native recording on the cameras, which saves to the network share successfully, and then view the recordings in Blue Iris? The files on the share are saved as .mkv with an associated .xml; one would think that a tool like this could be configured not to actually record, but just to act as a viewer.

Thoughts?

I think the power of BI5 is as an NVR with a database. I can't think how BI5 would be able to add your recordings to the database. Without that I can't see what BI5 can do.
