Not much fun with it here. Win11 Pro 21H2, running BI5 v5.6.1.3 and CP AI cpu only. Installed CP AI v1.6.0.0 but the CP AI server wouldn't start. Rebooted and same. Uninstalled v1.6.0.0, re-installed and same. Uninstalled v1.6.0.0 and re-installed v1.5.6.2 - CP AI server running. That's enough for now :cry:

PS> It wasn't the 5000 to 32168 port change, the v1.6.0.0 service simply wouldn't start automatically or manually. YMMV !

Please check the CodeProject forum before trying to install anything later than v1.5.6.2. It wasn't only me :shock:

Just out of interest TimG did you try "start now" in BI AI settings? That did it for mine, same windows version

FWIIW: This morning, I updated AI to version 1.6.1 Beta with BI at 5.6.2 and "so far, so good".
Last evening, the download would not install. I think they updated it during the night. I am still testing general versus combined with 3 cameras. This is not on a production system... yet.
I installed the new download over the old, no manual operations. After the install, I rebooted and everything came up and it is using my (old, small) NVIDIA card. Alerts in the 90-100 millisecond range.

Hi, yes I tried "Start" in BI settings, but it didn't work, as well as manually trying to start the service. I was too tired to take it any further yesterday.

Anyway, I have tried CP AI v1.6.1 this afternoon, and it is working here. No careful preparation like I did yesterday (Stopping BI5 and CP services before installing the new CP AI) - I just installed it on top of v1.5.6.2 with BI5 and CP AI running, and it had no issues. I noted that v1.6.1 still worked with BI5 on port 5000, but altered the port in BI5 settings to the new port 32168, and it works well on that port too.

Now rebooting for the fun of it - and all is well:

I now have a couple of days data from CP-AI v1.6.1 to compare with the previous months worth of data for v1.5.6.2. This is an Excel pivot analysis of all BI5 AI logs since the 20th August. It shows the average time taken in msec for my installation of CP AI (cpu version) to identify persons, cars, trucks and bicycles using both CP-AI versions mentioned above, and two of MikeLuds custom models. Click on image to enlarge:

The before/after is set to the time when I replaced v1.5.6.2 with v1.6.1, and the graph shows superb improvements in response times. I'll trust it a bit more when I have similar amounts of before and after days, but these are averages so it shouldn't be far out. BI5 has of course updated quite a few times during this period so I don't know what effect that could have.

Under 100msec times for cpu based AI in BI5. Wow :!:

I do like the CodeProject.AI software.. But I've had issues with any version newer than 1.5.5.
Issue: After installing any newer version, the service starts up fine, but SAVES no events. CodeProject "sees" the event and it shows for a couple of seconds in the display, and goes away.

Action taken.....

Uninstalled 1.5.5
Rebooted (deleted trash that CodeProject failed to remove - file and registry settings.)
Installed 1.5.6.2 (Same issue)
Uninstalled and reinstalled 1.5.5 (works fine)
Uninstalled 1.5.5
Rebooted (clean-up)
Installed 1.6.0 (same issue)
Uninstalled 1.6.0
Rebooted (clean-up)
Installed 1.5.5 (All Good!)

In all cases, the CodeProject service launches and seems just fine.... Just no events saved. Events do show up in "new." In all cses, going back to 1.5.5 fixes the issues.

Hardware:
Dell 8950 (Intel i7-12700K)
32 gb memory
Win11 Pro
NVIDIA GTS1660 Ti
Blue Iris 5.6.2.0
All drivers are up to date
Computer is used only for BI.... Deleted all the BS that Dell/MS install.

Example of camera settings...

Try the latest release 1.6.1.0. This version should work with your 1660 Ti even though the notes say 1650, it fixes all 16xx cards

Yup having issues as well. My problems also seems to have started with anything newer than 1.5.5. I'm currently running BI 5.6.1.3 and CP.AI 1.6.1-Beta. Right clicking a jpg clip image (with me in the image) and selecting "Testing and Tuning->Analyze with AI" from the context menu results in the following entries in the AI section of the BI Status window:
codeproject ai test.jpg

Code: Select all

	"api":"objects",
		"found":{
			"success": false,
			"error": "Unable to create YOLO detector for model yolov5m",
			"code": 500}
		}
No idea what that's all about but ended up resintalling CP.AI 1.5.5.1 as follows.

Stopped CP.AI and Blue Iris services, uninstalled CP.AI 1.6.1 and rebooted.
Installed CP.AI 1.5.5.1
Rebooted

All is now working as expected.
