Remote connection to another Blue Iris instance

Hello,

I have an licensed older version of BI (4.8.6.3) running on an old machine.

To upgrade I purchased a new machine and loaded fresh install Win 10 and then BI v 5.0.0.56 and then licensed it.

When I try to remotely connect from v5 BI to v4 BI, I get the error message:
"Trouble connecting: version 4.8.6.3 not supported"

Is this expected? Maybe due to major version change?

When you say connecting remotely, I assume you are referring to the new Remote Management feature. If so, I believe that feature was added in V5 and only works when both computers have V5.

And when both computers have their own BI5 licence too I believe. To do this, you will have to update your BI4 installation to BI5. It is new functionality for BI5, so it won't work with BI4.

They also must BOTH run in service mode. You can connect to a service mode machine with a system not running as service, but when you connect it actually shuts down the system . So keep in mind in order for you to connect to a remote system AND keep your system running in the background you must have it in service mode.

Yep, I was referring to the remote management feature. Thanks for the reply.
