Blue Iris failed to start (1069) Win10 version 2004

Howdy everyone,

Assuming this error message is coming up after a Windows 10 Pro 64bit update to version 2004. I now get this error message when trying to launch BI. The only thing I can think of that might have happened is that I changed my login password for my computer to an actual password and not using the PIN option anymore.

Thank you in advanced!

I have also purchases Priority Support but have no idea how to use it. I can't launch the BI to press the "Email Support" function so I'm out of luck...

I have purchased the Priority Support package last year from Digital River, it renewed a few days ago... What is the purpose of priority support if I don't have access to it, since I can't launch BI.

Ah interesting point. The contact support functionality in the software just instructs you to email 'support@blueirissoftware.com' anyway so I'd think you should still be able to get Priority Support that way.

Your point about the password changing on your computer could be a part of it. Did you configure BI to start as a service? You may need to go into your Service Manager and update the admin credentials used to start it.

Other than that, it certainly could be the 2004 update. My BI install isn't running on Win 10 but with all the bad press the update has been getting so far, even though I generally want to be on the bleeding edge, I have not updated any computers to it yet. Apparently this has been a reminder as to why "the bleeding edge" is called that.

When you enable "Run as a Windows service" in Blue Iris Settings -> Startup tab, Blue Iris prompts you for your Windows account and password. This authentication method is used to start the Blue Iris Service called "BlueIris" in Services.msc. When you changed Windows 10 authentication from PIN to password, this did not change the password that was used to start the Blue Iris Service in Windows 10 Services Management console. This is why Blue Iris will not start and why you are getting an error 1069.

1. Open "Services.msc" and find "Blue Iris Service".
2. Right click on "Blue Iris Service" and select properties.
3. Click on the "Log On" tab.
4. Click on "This account" and then click the Browse button and select your Windows user account.
5. Enter the password you changed for your Windows 10 user account.
6. Click OK twice to save.

Now try starting the "Blue Iris Service" from inside the Services management console. It should start unless you specified the wrong account and password.

If you are still having problem starting Blue Iris after updating to the Windows 10 2004 feature upgrade, try re-installing the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019: see here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... -downloads
