New PC Question

Post by RJC68 »

Hi All,

I have just upgraded the PC that I use for Blue Iris which is a Dell Optiplex i7 8700, 16GB DDR4 2666. I also have a Nvidia GTX 1030 that I was thinking of installing as I use this PC for other stuff. If I do install this card and have the onboard GPU activated as well for the QuickSync support once I upgrade to BI5 will having both GPU's active cause any issues with BI and Quick Sync? I have 2 monitors that I would plug into the GTX 1030.

Kind regards

Richard

If your motherboard supports using onboard and a gpu, it shouldn't have a negative effect your system or BI.
Note: onboard graphics can use 1.5gig (or more) of your memory.
Not sure if BI ca use both Quicksync AND Nvida Cuda at the same time. I think it's one or the other.

I'm reading as the OP wants to use the cpu/gpu for BI5 acceleration, and the Nvidia card only for the monitors.

You can specify which decoder to use in the camera settings.

Oh, that's right! So, some cameras could use the gpu, and others QS?
