What happened to Continuous + Triggered?

I may be out of the loop here - what happened to the Continuous + Triggered option on Recording? It's been replaced by Continuous + Alerts, but that seems to indicate I can now only have my cameras switch to hi-res main stream when an alert is generated?
Previously, I liked my setup where I could have main-stream recordings happen on any motion zone but only have alerts created when certain zones detected motion. Is there no way to do this now? How can I filter down meaningful alerts without losing a lot of the main-stream clips I had before?
