You could also drop the FPS on some cameras. Unless you really need 20 FPS, it will reduce cpu loading to drop them to around 12 FPS. It may not give you Hollywood fluid motion, but it will drop cpu usage and make recordings smaller while still being able to recognise what is going on.

People used to ask why BI was such a cpu hog. Then sub streams became a thing, and we knew the answer :lol:

Yes all cameras are set to go direct to disk. My newer cameras have more than one stream. How is this setup in BI to record in one and handle motion in another?

Also, my License Plate camera is working now. A combination of the settings above and moving to H.264 seemed to have resolved it, thank you.

That is the default setting. Motion detection on the sub stream, and then recording the main stream.
