V5.3.7.13 Needs Manual Installation

Post by TimG »

I know the keen eyed amongst us will have already spotted this, but when I tried to do a manual update to BI5 today, it failed. Tried again and spotted the warning on the Auto update screen stating this version needs manual download and installation.

No info why, but the full download is three times bigger than the auto download version, so there must be something big that has changed.

Edit: clarification, only if you are updating from v5.3.7.12:

IMPORTANT: will require manual installation
from the website if updating from 5.3.7.12!
Apologies for the inconvenience.

Update: Don't use the full installer from https://blueirissoftware.com/#download (140MB) which will give you v5.3.7.12, you need the version from https://blueirissoftware.com/updates/ which IS v13 (39MB).

Up and running, but no wiser

Just found BI5 v5.3.7.13 had crashed and wouldn't restart. It happened Five minutes after I started this thread so it hasn't been running for two hours+. It usually runs as a service, but it simply crashed straight after starting when I tried to restart it.

I used the back up of v5.3.7.10 to install, and it worked for a minute, then updated itself to v5.3.7.13 and crashed - with auto updates off. Tried again, and now stable with v5.3.7.10.

I will send a message to Ken. Be careful with this version !

It is possible that I broke it by using the full installer then the update installer. I've just had to put in my Windows user parameters to get it running as a service again. Once again though, the installer did have a message regarding updating from v5.3.7.12 to 13.

I'm sorry it borked your system. :(

I saw that warning and the first thing I thought was, "Nooooooooooo....not today."

I'll wait until whatever is (apparently) going on is resolved.

OK, new day, so try again.

1. I'm running v5.3.7.10 as a service and all is well.
2. I allow the built in updater to install v5.3.7.13. No issue with v12 to v13, as I'm starting from v10.

Appears to be stable for a minute, then the Alerts list on the left starts flashing - empty - Alerts - Empty. Timestamps on all cameras stop, then start after a few seconds. It doesn't stay stable enough for me to turn on to log to a text file.BI5 crashes. Remote UI3 pc shows it can't quite log in to BI5 service.

OK, I will write that support email now ! The Reliability History for the crash doesn't mean much to me (and it crashed over 90 times this morning alone):

Does anybody have v5.3.7.13 working ? People who have not stopped Automatic updates may well have it. Is it working for you ?

Well there's your problem- pretty sure that 8 should be an "m" or maybe a "z". Or the "§" or "▒" symbol. I can't believe Ken didn't catch that.

I installed the update today (from V5.3.7.12) and now my cameras will not record unless manually started...

Did I do something wrong or miss a setting? Previously, they all recorded as soon as BI5 started

Surely somebody has left Auto updates on

Does anybody have v5.3.7.13 running ?

I'm still waiting for a response from Support, and v13 is still the latest version in the updater. Waiting...
