Elementary Question!

Hi All

I am a newcomer to the forum but I have been using Blue Iris for 8 Mth and its an excellent piece of software which I am currently using to manage my single IP PTZ clone camera on the front of our house and plan to add a few more. However I have a question, I have set up and refined the automatic record triggering but It can be frustrating as the camera remains stationary and does not Pan / tilt to follow the target. Is this something Blue Iris can do? I have run through the manual and can see if it is possible.

Thanks

Brent

There is a round-about way using a clone of the camera. You can't 'follow' an object.. But, you can move the camera in the direction that the object is moving. This is done with 1 or more clones of the camera.

Basically, using the original camera, setup a cross-zone moving left to right. Have the camera move to ptz 2, which is set to move the camera to the right.

The clone would look for movement right to left, then move to ptz 2 - which moves it to the left.

The ptz movement can be done either via the trigger menu, or, by using the Alert tab, and, executing a 'command' to move the original camera to a ptz position.

I tested this with a different scenario, and it works... to a point. I'll try testing it again to only move the camera left/right.
