I would like to see a feature "like motion detection" but for SNOW..
The Idea would be as follows..
You would select the area you want to detect snow. a walkway, driveway? Roofline?
Scheduled of course to disable for summer.
It would get a baseline pixel color for the area.
And as it gets lighter "whiter". that would be sensed as snow accumulation. Possibly triggering a MQTT message for automation?.
as the heaters melt down the snow, it would return close back to the original colors as calibrated. Of if anything , Alert when you need to go shovel!
This could be used for people up north that have heat mats that would like to automate turning them on to melt snow vs leaving them running all winter which can get expensive.
Driveways, gutters, anywhere snow accumulation occurs. It would simply act as a binary sensor using cameras. and comparing the average pixel color of the area in question.
