Just posting to day that I have now been crash-free since my last post - the recommendation re: Bitdefender seems to have worked for me. Thanks again.

Excluding Blue Iris 5 executable from Bitdefenders antivirus protection did the trick for me as well. Now at least Blue Iris launches properly, not sure yet about stability.
