Blue Iris vs. VPN Client

Post by RoadHazard »

How do I make BI5 remote access work when the PC is running a VPN client?

Long ago, I configured Blue Iris properly for remote access. It involved the BI wizard plus a DNS updater utility to work around the dynamic IP address assigned by my ISP. That setup worked great for years. No big deal.

Now, I've added a VPN client because some other programs on the same PC need it. Trouble is, everything on the PC now goes through the VPN, which complicates remote access to Blue Iris. Local (LAN) access still works fine. I just can't check in from the road anymore.

Note that I'm not talking about a VPN server or VPN firmware on a router. It's a VPN client, like you might use to temporarily access your office network from home.

Any ideas, suggestions, or pointers?

if your blue iris is behind a vpn, then you would have to get the vpn provider to forward the port to your PC hosting blue iris so you can do remote access. I doubt they will let you do this however.
