Re: Hardware rocommendations please

Almost finished setting the network at my sisters place after replacing some questionable hardware purchases. They bought a HIKVision 4 camera setup with 4 x 5MP cameras, but we have run wiring to add another 4 cameras on the lower story to get better face recognition, 3 of which will be 8MP HIKVis...

Re: Reeolink Cameras Bringing BI to it's Knees :-(

I'm pretty new to BI and only have 2 Reolink cameras (1 Pro 1 and 1 4MP outdoor). They seem to be somewhat more taxing on my computer than anticipated given that I purchased a i7-6700 from recommendations on this forum. I'm shopping around some of the other big name camera companies and waiting for...

Re: Hardware recommendations

Not sure what you heard and from where but BI CAN take advantage of both 1) Intel emedded GPU and 2) NVidia external GPU for hardware acceleration. With Intel you can't use H265 encoding but if you can live with H264 the Intel solution is more efficient. For your system load, you'll need to calcula...

Re: Would Blue Iris manage with my hardware?

Just to add to TimG post about the relationship between higher frame rates and CPU resources, Many novices installing security cameras think they need to run their cameras at high frame rates like 30fps because they think it's going to improve the quality of the video or they might miss something. ...

Re: AMD support

Sorry in advance if this has been discussed before but I have several machines running BI 4/5 and multiple locations for a few of my customers. Most of them Intel i7's of one vintage or another with quicksync enabled. Recently I customer ask about installing BI 5 on a Ryzen 3400G. I was a bit lost ...

Re: Possible New Client

Many way to write to cloud, one of the easiest is via a cloud service such as amazon drive, google backup and sync or OneDrive, and then sync that folder. Basically any cloud provider with a windows client. It won't be instant, but backs up in a matter of seconds, especially with H.265 and a Decent ...

Re: Hard Drive Filling Up

Hi For the second time in as many weeks the hard drive on my PC has filled up with BI Files within the New Folder. I have my Clips and Archiving Set on the C drive to 300GB for New, yet on these two occasions, today being the latest, the clip storage for New is at 842GB. I have clips and archiving ...

Re: 24h time / overlay issue in BI5

Wow, never seen this before. Have you tried deleting and re-creating the camera?
Overlays increase CPU usage, best to use the CAM's they can do overlays ect.. better. This includes rotating\mirroring video feeds. And avoid BI or any NVR having to post edit.

Re: BUG - Issues since upgrading the v5

Unrelated to the Original Bug: I have found a bug in BI with older generation CPU's, that is where you have BI "rotate or mirror" the video feed, it absolutely kills the CPU. (Only on some computer hardware, the make\model of CAM's make no difference). The fix, (really what you should be d...

Re: So really, what's the sense of using BI

To what Mike said... what camera settings do you need to 'dumb down' to prevent killing the cpu? The only camera setting I can think of would be frame rate. Some people want to use 30 or 60 fps and record at those rate which would cause the BI cpu to bog down. Second, if you have been using BI for ...
