Re: Upgrade instructions?
There's a Microsoft C++ 2015-2019 redistributable that should have installed as part of the V5 install, if you didn't have it. The install package should be in the V5 program folder if you need it. There are a few other notes, but not needed for 99% of installs. Yes, you uninstall V4 the normal way....

Re: Blue Iris FPS degrades reliably from 30 FPS to 15-22 FPS after 6-12 hours
Wow. That's a lot of follow up. Good information. Unfortunately, I'm not that level of expert! I would say if the continuous/motion recordings are all at the proper fps, then, it's not BI. Must be the UI3, VNC... something getting in the way and dropping frames - possibility an issue of quality vs s...

Re: Upgrade instructions?
When you uninstall V4, be sure to reply properly when asked to retain registration & settings. Otherwise, you WILL need to start from scratch.
The BI V5 install process will explain all this.

Re: Decent cameras
BI Support website used to have a list of 'tested cameras' - it is not available any more. Probably because of the website redesign.
Contact BI support to see if you can get the 'Tested Cameras' list. This can save you a lot of time & money. Let us know. Maybe post it here!

Re: Blue Iris FPS degrades reliably from 30 FPS to 15-22 FPS after 6-12 hours
That's a lot to take in. - Are you using UI3 to view, and, keeping UI3 connected for extended periods? - Does the BI program itself degrade the fps live preview & full screen camera view, or, only UI3? - What is your 'Live Preview Rate' in BI? - What are your cameras 'Max Rate' (fps) set at in BI?

Re: masks/hotspots/motion highlights issue
Use Direct-to-disc. No overlays or masking will be recorded.
If you want the date/time/camera-name on the recorded video, use the cameras gui to turn them on, and, any other overlay it has that you want.
