Re: Performance tuning: a surprising result, have others had this?

Not surprising at all, you should see an improvement at the same scale you reduce frames by. Going from 30 fps to 15 fps should halve your CPU usage.

Re: Nest Cams

The problem with Nest cams is that viewers such as BI need to rely on the nest service as an intermediary between BI and the camera. It might work one day by using a public URL from Nest to proxy the camera but if Nest ever changes their model or changes that URL then BI will no longer be able to se...

Re: "New" Setup and CPU utilization question

I have looked and Googled for the better part of a couple weeks now and cannot find any reference to Frame Intervals, key frames, or anything else they go by on my cameras. So i am asking for help if anyone knows where this setting is on my cameras. Vodoo magic... I'm an engineer and ever since mid...

Re: Networking question - help please...

My network is a very basic LAN with a BI machine, a VM in Bridge Mode (its own IP address) for a Reverse Proxy, a raspberry pi, and a handful of cameras. I was hoping there was a way to get the ARP requests for both to coexist but really wasn't sure. I suppose 192.168.0 and 192.168.1 are only one bi...

Re: Hello need some direction to find a solution

Well thats the entire point. How secure is the password? For example, many of the camera exploits circumvent the password. If the password is enough, then why do you need ngrok, simply port forward. 1) The only reason I use ngrok is just to prevent someone from snooping my password over an unencryp...

Re: Hello need some direction to find a solution

So anyone scanning random ngrok addresses can find it and log in. How would they login? Isn't there a user name and password set? Well thats the entire point. How secure is the password? Re: Hello need some direction to find a solution

That is my question. While the traffic is encrypted, it doesnt require a certificate on the other end. So anyone scanning random ngrok addresses can find it and log in. There are different types of certificates. Base https certs are used to encrypt but do NOT authenticate users to be anyone. You ar...

Re: Newbie: Analog DVR & Cameras

Some people have used the existing DVR as the converter. If your existing analog system publishes URLs for each camera you can point BI to those URLs.

Re: Networking question - help please...

As a last resort, I might try to setup a linux desktop vm and set its ip address to a static IP on the same netmask and connect from that VM.

Re: Networking question - help please...

Bump. I have a need to revisit this again. Background... my remote site was originally configured as a 192.168.1.x network. This all worked well until a client of mine brought his own camera to add to BI and it came from the factory with a 192.168.0.xxx address. I couldn't connect to that camera bec...
