Re: New to BI

Evening All, So i've slowly been getting into home security cameras over the past year and almost immediately found recommendations for BI. Finally purchased BI5 this weekend and i've got a few questions to start: 1. Is there some type of beginners user guide for setup? I've tried searching this fo...

Re: Recording being recorded on the NAS device?

I just took over managing a 20 camera system with Blue Iris. I set the location of the camera to record on the c:\bluriris\new, but I see the recordings on the NAS device instead? This a system that was all ready in place. I don't see them having more than one profile being used and the 4 cameras i...

Re: iOS Notifications

Haven't had notifications work since I upgraded to BI5. Is there something I'M missing? Don't know if this is your issue, but they also stopped for myself, this is how I fixed (assuming your alerts are all setup correctly, as they worked before) - Ran the "remote access wizard" it updated...

Re: IP Problems

Dear friends, first of all, I want to apologize for several things, I am a man of seventy years who does not speak English (only Spanish) and it is the first time that I entered a forum, that is why I may commit involuntary errors. I have been using Blue Iris locally for a long time and I am very s...

Re: iOS Notifications

Hi, Mods, please move into a TIP's section if one exists. Long-time BI users feeling really dumb, only just Realised with iOS when the notification appears if you swipe left and hit "View" you see a much larger Animated GIF. I had always just clicked on the Notification and it went straig...

Re: Blue Iris FPS degrades reliably from 30 FPS to 15-22 FPS after 6-12 hours

I am a new Blue Iris 5 user. I have set my cameras to send 30fps at a max 3k bitrate, and they work fine doing so. My machine is perfectly capable of decoding/encoding all 6 of my cameras simultaneously at no more than 20% CPU. It's an i7-4770k, and I use Intel hardware acceleration which I can con...

Re: My server PC

I have an M2.0 SSD, but found BI drops a lot of frames. Knowing that SSD's are not optimal for sustained writes, I added an old 2.5" 7200rpm Laptop SATA HDD for my BI recordings and all my issues went away. No more dropped frames on recording or playback. Learning, unless you have a high-end SS...

Re: PC Recommendation

Looking for a recommendation on what I can do to speed this up. I have an i5 4570 with 16GB DDR3 which I run headless for several things. It has my Plex Server, a VM for HomeAssistant and a VM for PiHole and of course is running Blue Iris. At idle the CPU is around 40-50% with blue iris using aroun...

Re: Decent cameras

The most recommended cameras for BlueIris are Dahua Starlight and Hikvision cameras. There are plenty of discussions and reviews for both brands on the other form (ipcamtalk.com). I would never waste my money on any other brands like D-link, Foscam etc. Agree, also consider a cam with micro SD card...

Re: Turning on a light when BI5 sends an alert?

I would like BI5 to turn on a floodlight when it sends me an alert that's triggered by one of my cameras. What's your preferred way to accomplish this? Depends on the floodlight. My bulbs are Zigbee compatible, so I just call a Windows Powershell script under alerts to control via HUE. https://gith...
