Re: CPU 100%

Third generation = SandyBridge so it will only do H264 decoding in acceleration.

Re: License question

You CAN move it by deactivating it and reactivating it on the new machine.

You CAN'T run on two PCs at the same time with only one license.

Re: Hey Everyone, quick question on a processor.

In order to take advantage of overclocking (the k version of any processor) you need to have a MoBo Chipset that allows it.

If you don't, the CPU will still work but just without overclocking.

Re: Building a new BI5 computer Part 1 CPU selection

Is the system going to be dedicated to BI? MoBos/Chipsets with extra PCI lanes and USB 3.0 ports would be less useful. And if you get a 'k' model CPU that can be overclocked make sure your chipset supports overclocking. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/chipsets/desktop-chipsets.html/

Re: Laptop

BI5 needs a fast drive for the "New" folder, but if you only have one drive there is no point in having a "Storage" folder ... I would say a 2000 or 2010 "fast" drive. No need for a 2020 "fast" drive. Birst rates are not as important here as sustained rates. For the same reason cache size is not as...

Re: Laptop

Sorry for the snark but it must be REALLY tiny if you can't fit a computer.

Sure, you can go buy nearly any computer you want. Literally any computer at all and run a few cameras off of it.

Re: Ambitious 256 Camera Server

Can you get intel gpu passthrough with Hyper-v?

Even if you could, I would assume only to one VM.

Re: Burn Timestamp into Video

I know that with newer versions of BI5 we get the benefit of overlays on playback even if we use D2D. Ken saves the overlay data in a database of some sort and regenerates them on playback. This enhancement single-handedly makes the use of D2D almost the only option ever needed. Now, I hate to be TH...

Re: Upgrade BI 4 to BI 5 ....easy config transfer?

Yep, I did the same thing with keys. At least the error message tells you what to do.

You need to enter the "Support Key" and the "BI4 Key" in two different places when doing the upgrade.

Re: Upgrade BI 4 to BI 5 ....easy config transfer?

I just did this this week. Piece of cake. Much of the backups are in case you need to revert back to BI4. The core of the update is a new application install that will update and change some of the old app registry settings. When you are done you will have both a BI4 and a BI5 available. Once convin...
