Lost connection to service (2) with new camera

Hello everyone.
I couldn't find a post with my problem so I'm writing.
I am using BI5 (5.2.9.14 X64) with 14 cameras. Everything has been working fine for a long time.
I bought a 4 MP camera (there are 2 lenses to cover a very wide viewing angle, so 2x2 MP).
It is ONVIF and H265+
For your information, I tested with the latest version available on the site but the problem is the same (in case my version of BI did not decode H265): The new version decodes the H265

The camera's internal interface is fine. By the iCsee app, the picture is perfect. Via Chrome, the image is also very good. The Camera works !

But when BI5 finds the camera, it appears in ONVIF. Nevertheless, after validation, I have the color pattern and no image! (I tried to change a lot of settings, like VBR....on the BI5 page of the camera configuration.

After 10 seconds of waiting (BI5 hangs), I get the message 'Lost connection to service (2)' then BI5 closes.

When I disable or delete this camera, BI5 works again.

Maybe the H265+ causing this failure?

I couldn't find anything on the internet so I'm here to bother you if anyone has an idea.

Thank you in advance for your help.
David (France)

If BI displays the colour bars it means that it didn’t detect a video stream as far as I know.

What happens or happened when you did an auto-detect of the cam in BI?

You might have to play around with the stream settings, main and substream. You might also want to try h264 as a starting point until you get things working after which you could potentially switch back over.

Hello and thank you very much for your reply.

BI5 detects the camera as an ONVIF camera (it is ONVIF).
But once validated, BI5 freezes for 10 seconds then displays the error message.

In this camera setup I only have H265 but it does not support h264.
However, I installed for test the latest version of BI5 which supports H265 but it gives the same error message.
Thank you.

When you install the latest, do a find/inspect on the cam and see what it reports back, the info that it returns might have the stream parameters or with the latest version of BI it may well detect and configure the streams?

Good morning,
when installing the latest version of BI5 available on the site, the search for the camera was identical to my version, which is a little over a year old.
It was in both cases detected as an ONVIF camera and the stream parameters were the same.

I wrote to the manufacturer, no H264 firmware available. Only H265. I think that the 'driver' corresponding to this new camera is not yet available on BI. I will wait and try new versions of BI in the future.

What other options do have under Compression in the cam settings?

Good morning,

disappointment reading your message.

Indeed, I had not seen the line where it is indicated that it does not have compatibility with the ONVIF standard.
Force to go through the IcSee program.

When I have time, I will try all the cameras available in BI5 (I think I will have to take very long vacations :-) ).
Thank you very much for this detail that had not noticed.

The only encoding available in the camera settings is H265, as well as the smart encode On/OFF

Sincerely.

Let's start again. We either need it to be ONVIF compliant so BI5 can directly read the settings info, or for it to have an RTSP feed:

1. I would suggest searching the camera menu to see if you can turn on RTSP and to understand which port it is on.
2. Try Onvif Device Manager and see what info that gives you for the camera.
3. Can you view it in VLC ? If yes then it's likely to work in BI5.
4. You could have a look at the iSpy web site as they often list URL's to connect cameras.

I think I found the camera on Ebay UK at £15 :o
