A way to make all frames visible was what was missing for me.

The one camera that I mistakenly set to "open in desktop frame" was being hidden behind the other three. Thus invisible to me.

Just making note here for anyone who runs into this in the future.

Totally get that. Personally, I find that the magic "Solo Camera" button in the upper right hand corner of the console easy enough to get back to normal. That said, I'm drafting a note to BI about this very subject suggesting a strategy to mitigate confusion. Who knows if it will have legs though...
