Hello.

I am wanting to swap my cpu on my blue iris machine. I currently have an i5 2400s and I am wanting to swap it with an 15 2400 Reason is the i5 2400 is a bit faster. My question is, do I need to deactivate it on the current cpu. I am going to be using all the same hardware just a different cpu.

Current system specs:

Device name BueIris
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400S CPU @ 2.50GHz 3.30 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch Touch support with 10 touch points
Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 21H1
Installed on ‎9/‎30/‎2021
OS build 19043.1348

Providing the motherboard will accept the new CPU I wouldn’t envisage you’d have to do anything. Power off the PC, remove the old CPU, clean the old thermal paste off the heat sink, install the new CPU, apply some fresh thermal paste and bolt the heat sink back in place.

I thought I responded to this but maybe I hit a 'post collision' with IAmATeaf.

I upgraded my physical CPUs a while back and didn't run into any issues at all.

I agree with all above. I think BI5 will only barf if you try to run your licence on two pc's. Shouldn't be a problem here.

The swap look beneficial too https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/I ... /m304vs803
