BI/AI freezing during capture event. Completely missing random pictures

Post by goldbondx »

I have spent significant time trying to tune my BI 5.4.3.9, i7-9700, 32 gb ram, WD 4TB blue, RTX3070 with only 3 Amcrest (1x Ultra 4K and 2x 5MP) cameras to trigger during ALL events. (which they weren't)

At first I thought it was camera lighting, positioning, then SMS notifications..... I did manage to tweak these. However, today I confirmed that these are fine and it is BI itself that is displaying massive lag during periods of "potential" events that just seems to forget about pictures even my red Tundra. I mean completely ignoring any capture on the AIInput folder/image. (so nothing passed to AI..nothing to do with AI) I thought maybe cool down, maybe something else...I really don't know and this is getting annoying.

Typically my CPU runs at 2% with all 3 cameras recording 24x7 along with image triggers to sending 10 second video clips by email, screen shot to sms. This works 90% of the time except when the system randomly decides not to do anything as mentioned. Attached are some setting screen shots (camera in question) and really hoping someone can provide some guidance.

Are you still trying to use AITools? If not you don't need the jpg when triggered to AIInput folder selected any longer. I've seen people suggest setting the camera as sensitive as possible and let DeepStack take care of removing the false positives however many times when I've tried to make it more sensitive with the min object size and min contrast I've had more issues with missed detections so I usually leave those alone now. Have you verified your DeepStack instance is running from the link on the global AI screen? You should be able to see any detections which where suppressed by DeepStack by clicking the hamburger menu on the alerts tab to see canceled alerts, normally it would show confirmed alerts only. Also Did you install the correct DeepStack from https://docs.deepstack.cc/windows/ it needs to be either the CPU or GPU options not the old DeepStack that didn't specify.

Thanks for replying. Look at the options. I can't get much more sensitive on the camera/trigger side. Tonight again, car rolled up on the laneway...didn't trigger. Nothing in the AIInput folder (JPG's for AI to check..) The issue is definitely not deepstack issue. Camera/BI completely ignore vehicles rolling up my laneway. (today worse than 10% failure)

I am not sure what you mean by don't use the JPG folder. My understanding is the BI AI (which I am using) needs this for analysis per my setup.

Including my camera setting which I just changed from 265 to 264H

I note that you have "Reset detector when object size exceeds = 30%" which looks rather low. It may be worth unticking that while you are testing - I have it set to 85% here to prevent moving clouds causing a light/dark trigger. Is it possible that the truck could have been 30% of the image ?
