PC Config and Licensing..

Post by mtsoule »

Ok, a couple of things here… and perhaps I should have put them in separate posts.

I an VERY new to BI and IP cams in general.. so, pardon the NOOB stuff here..

First, is there a formula (I looked and didn’t see anything) for hardware, for example..
Num of camera * 2 = GB of recommended RAM
1-4 Cameras = i3 processor
5-8 Cameras = i5 processor.. ETC…..

I understand there are a LOT of variables… which brings me to my next question, I have a small i5-4460 w/4GB using for testing. And I have the eval installed, seems to be working well (Currently only 1 camera). I have more cameras coming in today. my goal is to compare cameras and get an idea of the what is needed hardware-wise (processor,RAM etc) for my full setup and plan for future. I want to take my 16 camera AHD COAX system and replace the cams with IP and BI. Some will be 4K, others 2M, and probably some 1080.

I understand the license is per PC, is it possible to transfer a license from one PC to another? So I may use the cameras on my test rig until I get the needed requirements built. I don’t think that’s going to happen with in the 15-day period. Which is why I was looking for the formula so I can go ahead and get things together before purchasing the license.
I mean, the license isn’t that expensive and If I have to buy one then loose it, it beats buying hardware that isn’t going to be sufficient and a waste
i think i found the answer to this here, can someone confirmn? https://blueirissoftware.com/forum/view ... f=4&t=1838

Yes, you can de-license and re-license on a new machine without problem. If the first machine crashed hard before de-licensing it you may need to contact support.

One warning about using the eval version for testing... I don't think the eval version supports direct-to-disk which is the single biggest thing you can do to improve performance. Therefore don't use the eval version to do any performance testing.
