Time Display

Post by f6pilot »

I am pretty sure I have searched everywhere in the BI settings for this: I find it hard to believe that a platform as robust as Bi does not allow you to change the size and font of the live time display, or allow you to click and drag it to any position in a particular camera's window. The attached image is just the upper left portion of one of my camera's image; there are tree branches against the sky. The "Date/Time/Camera Name" display is unreadable. If I could change the font color or size, or (most helpful) move the display to a location that has a more solid background, it would be GREAT!

Has anyone found a way to do this? If not, I hope the developers will take this as a suggestion. Thanks.

First question is the time stamp being generated by BI or by the camera, if by BI then in the camera settings on the video tab, do you have the box checked for "Display overlays live" if not then the camera is putting the time stamp on the video and it will depend on the camera setting if it can be changed, in which case do not blame BI! If you have the check box checked then if you click the button "Edit overlays" you will have options to make the changes you desire such as font color, opacity etc. I this is all in the BI help file under "Advanced Video Topic", then scroll down to the topic "Overlays"

I agree. Check the image in a browser to see if the time display is still there, or log in to the camera directly to see if it is coming from the camera.

My BI5 time overlays are indeed adjustable for position, size, font and colour:

You and TImG are both absolutely right. The Date/TIme display I was having trouble with was actually being generated by the camera's software - Foscam. I do have BI's overlay enabled and it is working just fine. I set my cameras up so long ago I had forgotten where that setting was in BI. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Now to the real core of my problem. That camera is pointed at a bird feeder and I stream it live to YouTube with OBS software. Neither the Foscam nor the BI overlay show up on on the live stream. Now I need to start digging into the OBS software to figure out how to get OBS to pick up the Date/Time overlay.

Thank you for your help!

I wonder if that is the "Require live display of overlay" seen in my screengrab above.

I tried that, but no luck. I started looking at OBS and I'm pretty sure that the date time display is basically a separate video feed that I have to get OBS to pick up. I will let you know what I find.

Thanks again for your help.

BI will only overlay the time / date stamp in BI. If you are using another software to live stream to YT, BI is out of the equation.
