Recommendation for new cameras

Post by MrFroggy »

Hi all Blue Iris fans!

I'm a previous owner of a Dahua setup with NVR (4216-8P-4K) and 8 cameras (6 x Turret IPC-HDW1320S and 2 Bullet IPC-HFW1320S).

Now that most of the cameras died and the NVR is obsolete, I've decided to update my surveillance setup go with Blue Iris and buy new cameras.

But my question now is which camera should I buy?

BUDGET: 2.000 EUR (250€ / camera)

I need:
  • 5 cameras inside the house (Hall 0, Living room, Hall 1, Toy room, Garage)
  • 1 camera outside (front door - protected from rain)
  • 2 cameras for the outside (Garden, Street)
Requirements:
  • All cameras must be powered by PoE (802.3af MAX 12W).
  • I would like very good picture/video at day or night (Minimum sensor size 1/1.8).
  • Resolution should be at least 6MP.
  • All cameras must have IR light. The Porch Camera must have bright white light too (3 meters).
  • For the cameras inside the house (Hall 0 and Hall 1), features like dual-way audio and siren are nice to have but not mandatory.
  • I don't need PTZ or varifocal.
I don't want to buy the cameras from US stores. Must be available in EU stores or selled from international stores but sent from EU (Amazon/Aliexpress).

I already know that brands like Dahua, Hikvision, Amcrest and some from Reolink models works great with Blue Iris. But on every single vendor there are many models that are phasing out. I don't want to buy something that will be discontinued soon.

Additional question: If a camera have IR lights and LED white light, is it possible to enable the LED white light only in specific situations? I would like to use IR light and if movement is detected inside a specific area, then enable the flood light. Is this possible using Blue Iris ?

Please experts, help me identify the cameras I need to buy.

Sorry about my English.
Regards from Portugal!
