Overlays not matching preview

Post by rockyred »

Hi,

I'm having an issue (for a few releases, including 5.9.9.14/20/21, so I'm thinking it must be settings somewhere) with my overlays not formatting correctly on the live video and on exported clips. The date is set to DD/MM/YYYY but is showing as MM/DD/YYYY, on all cameras even though its set and displays correctly on the overlay dialog, I also don't use any in-camera date/time only the overlay within Blue Iris. The Windows region settings are also correct too as well as location in the location tab in Blue Iris "Global"/server settings, I'm just not sure where Blue Iris is getting its formatting from.

See the attachments.

Well that's unusual. Did it work with previous releases and then do this ? I'm in the UK and I also use dd/mm/yyyy, so I will check my settings against yours with the overlays. My cameras are still showing dd/mm/yyyy and I'm running BI5 v5.9.9.19. Well I've checked and can see no differences that could cause that. Must be Windows :?

Is BI5 running on a PC or in some kind of VM ? That could add another layer of confusion. What does it do if you use

Code: Select all

%a %d-%b-%Y %X
instead of

Hi,

Thanks for the help!

It's a baremetal install, I wanted it to be completely isolated from our main infrastructure.

Ahh that seems to work!

It must be the Windows short date or something as even in the Fields dropdown is incorrect even though the preview IS correct.

Hey,

I also got a response from Blue Iris support:

The settings editor would be running on your local user, the actual video running under the service user. Are these the same user?

They were not. The software deployment admin/user is different from the Blue Iris (service) admin/user. So at some point the deploy admin had its regional settings modified (OS updates maybe?), so I set the service to start as the Blue Iris admin/user not the deploy or local system and voila!

I modified the original one to display differently in the interim for the correct date, top one is the new test that is correct.
