Cannot see camera
Cannot see camera
I have a remote camera in my workshop linked to my home network via a tp-link cpe210 point to point AP/Client wireless link. The setup of the wireless link has the AP & Client set up on a 198.168.0.??? IP, whereas my home network is on a 198.168.1.??? IP. BI cannot see my remote camera with this setup, should both home and remote be on the 198.168.1.??? IP?
Re: Cannot see camera
Do you know the IP address of the camera ? Can you PING the camera from the BI5 pc ? Have you tried a tool like Advanced IP Scanner ?
If they can't see it I would also suspect the tp-link devices. It would make sense to have it on the same address range, but read the instructions for the tp-link device first.

Re: Cannot see camera
It depends on the home network permissions. You BI server subnet (192.168.1.x) needs to have access to the CPE remote subnet (192.168.0.x). Depending on how you manage the home LAN, you may be able to simply allow the two subnets to see each other (for example, the TP-Link Omada SDN that I use enables subnet bridging by default, and you have to actually block the subnets from seeing each other using ACL). If you are not using Omada, then your best bet is probably to set up the CPE as a bridge and disable the DHCP on the workshop CPE210 (which, I surmise, is what is issuing the 192.168.0.x IP to the camera at present). Then your home router will issue an IP address to the remote camera and it will be in the same 192.168.1.x subnet. Once it is, your BI server will see the camera.

Re: Cannot see camera
Thanks for that. I don't know these tp-link devices, so happy to get some real info here.

Re: Cannot see camera
Of course, I hope this helps the OP. I have been running 12 cameras with BI-5 on a TP-Link Omada network for over two years now, and learned many things from experience. I actually ran a CPE210 link like the OP has for a year too, but the 2.4 GHz channel congestion (everyone has a home WiFi these days) made me switch to the 5 GHz EAP215-Bridge, which provided x10 improvement in point to point speed.
