Blue Iris app will not connect remotely

Post by malcolmwelker »

All was good, until I upgraded to a faster speed and internet service provider changed. Now remote access is not connecting. Please Help.

Did you swap your modem ? I'm thinking maybe you had opened a port in the modem to allow the BI5 app to connect remotely. If you still have the old modem you may be able to copy the port forwarding settings, but that would depend on the BI5 pc having the same static IP address as before. There is always the Wizard for setting up remote access.

Thank you for the reply

The internet provider changed the modem. I am still using the same router.

What I have found is that the modem is getting the normal WAN IP address and handing my router another.

I have several other systems, i.e. SmartThings, HomeSeer, Keurig, Amcrest View Pro, Smart Life, Smart Home, Kasa, and more can live with this.

For BI5, in the interim, I have gone to a static Ip for $$$ more per month.

Could that mean CGNAT ? I also changed internet provider this year, and had to pay more for a static WAN IP to avoid it. Works well for Emby, Plex etc too.

In my case in the UK, I am with YouFibre with a 1Gbps (symmetric up and down) connection and that costs £30/month with an extra £3 for a voip phone connection and another £3 for the fixed IP address. That comes in at half the price of the supplier I left. I'm quite happy with those prices.
