It was this line that prevented me mentioning VLC as another test. You have already seen the issue from the same cameras on two different BI4 pc's, and with Foscam VMS software so I think we have ruled out BI4 as the problem. I do think it is a wifi issue, but how to test that ? There was the possibility of interference from a DECT style phone or other device on 2.4Ghz. Do you use home automation ? Many Zigbee devices work on 2.4Ghz as well.

Tim, I agree that we concluded that my problem is a wifi issue. To this end, I have just ordered a TP-Link 3-node mesh system that I hope will improve my wifi.

I have a land line and a cordless phone, both of which I have had for years. I also have an iPhone that I have had for couple of years. But I don't have aany home automation...just a couple of Alexa Dots that I have also had for years.

The only reason I was pursuing the suggestion made by nh505g was because he said a camera firmware update messed up his Blue Iris stream and sub-stream. So I just wondered if that might have happened to me.

But tomorrow I hope to get my new mesh system installed. I will keep you posted.

SUCCESS! I installed the TP-Link mesh system today, and I am no longer experiencing videos that are delayed and/or jerky. They run smooth like they should. The only problem I had with the installation was with the 3rd node...it didn't install as advertised. But I quickly found a fix, so all three nodes are up and running.

This system did present a little quirk that I need to go away and solve. The mesh router changed the IP addresses of all six of my cameras...the addresses that Blue Iris needs. I was able to figure out the addresses for two of the cameras, and I'm hoping I can get IP addresses for the other four cameras by knowing their unique MAC id. If not, I will have to bring these four cameras inside the house, hook them directly to the router via Ethernet cable, and then go through a few recovery steps. This should be no big deal, so I am a happy camper. Thanks much for your help.
