Imported settings and lost 11 of 12 cameras

Post by mrrentman »

My V4.8.6.3 system was working fine with 12 cameras. I exported my settings thinking I could try a schedule change and if it didn't work, I could roll back by importing the saved settings back again.
I imported my settings that I had saved 10 minutes prior and I lost half my cameras. I rebooted and imported again from the same .reg file and now I only have one camera.
I've tried the import several times and each time I get a different result. 2 cameras, 4 cameras, back to 1 camera.
How do I get back to where I was an hour ago when everything was working?

Update: I kept reimporting over and over. Each time I got different results; 1 camera, 6 cameras, 2 cameras.
I started deleting all the cameras prior to the import, but that didn't help.
Finally after about 10 tried, I got all my cameras to show up.
I have no idea why as I didn't do anything differently.

Either the exported file is bad, or, the Bi registry is bad? At this point, you have nothing to loose.

You could try a System Restore.

Or,
1. Uninstall keeping the license info,
2. Go into the registry and delete all the BI registry entries except the license info. Maybe there's some bad entries hanging around.
3. Reinstall
4. Import.

You correctly exported before making changes. Whatever happened doesn't make sense.
I do the same, with the addition that I export each individual camera before a major change - an extra layer of protection to recall a cameras settings.

Until I read your answer, I didn't even realize that you could export individual cameras. Thank you for that tip, I will start doing that too.
