Very high CPU

Post by DJStef »

Hello,
I just acquired Blue Iris 5, I configured my 6 cameras and I find that my Cpu is really high even with GPU acceleration.
My PC :
i7 9700K @ 4900mhz, 32g DDR4, 2x1to M.2, RTX 2080
My CPU usage is 30% and my GPU is 20% (NVIDIA NVDEC).
If I disable GPU acceleration my CPU stays at 30%.
And here I do not understand well: whether or not I activate the GPU with the CPU remains at 30% so if I put the GPU I consume 20% more for nothing.

30% isn't that extreme. Are you using direct-to-disk recording with no overlays?

Everything is configured to consume a minimum. There is no recording.
I don't understand why when I activate hardware acceleration my cpu always stays at 30%

What I do not understand is that I activate or not the hardware acceleration my CPU remains at 30% when it should drop since the GPU takes over a bit. While my CPU stays at 30% and I have more GPU consumption.

How & where are you enabling/disabling acceleration?

In the BI settings and/or each cameras BI settings?

You can st each camera's acceleration to 'Default', then all you need to do is change the BI Settings acceleration in the 'Cameras' tab to effect all cameras set to 'Default'. Restart is required.

I have tried all types of GPU acceleration and restart every time. It works since my GPU goes up to around 20% but no matter which accelerator I choose, my CPU stays at around 30%, so I don't see any point in using the GPU accelerator

If by no registration you mean BI is not registered, then maybe these accelerators won't work. Can anybody remember what won't work in demo mode ?
