Swann 4K Thermal Sensing Spotlight Bullet IP Security Camera - NHD-887MSFB

Post by Calgaryx »

Hi there.
I have bought five Swan (SWNHD-887MSFB) cameras.
They are 4K Thermal Sensing Spotlight Bullet IP Security Camera - NHD-887MSFB.
They have Face Recognition, Night Vision, 2-Way Talk, Siren, Spotlights, Video Analytics.
Is it possible to setup everthyng with Blue Iris?
Any idea, suggestion please.

So I don't have any direct experience with these but I did review the link and did some additional research.

The first thing that jumps out at me is the pretty poor reviews of the camera on the Swann site. I will acknowledge that most of those reviews are around the AI and detection capabilities within the camera and I personally wouldn't put much stock in THAT part. The camera is not made with a sophisticated CPU, continuous AI enhancements, etc and can only do so much. This is why I defer to BI to do any of my "thinking"... the camera is there to be the eye balls. I don't see anything specifically listed on their site about ONVIF support or any 3rd party NVR integration (other than one user comment) as it looks like it's intended to be used with their own product.

I also looked at the Amazon page for these and there is a direct question about ONVIF support with a response of "No". https://amazon.com/dp/B084Q9ZD21

That said, I looked within BI and there are pre-made profiles for some Swann cameras, not this one specifically but there are other NHD models. They may or may not support ONVIF but with the flexibility of BI, my gut says you will be able to get a video feed. You may be somewhat limited in the functionality however - they sound somewhat proprietary.

The 'NHD-810 RSTP' is in the list of supported cameras/protocols.

This being NHD-887, not sure. You could send BI support a message about it.

As said before, probably not. These cameras are designed to interface with the Swann NVR, and every extra function may be non standard. If you are lucky, a Swann camera type with similar settings in BI5 may get some things working. If you are not lucky, you will not get a picture.

Since BI5 gives you a free demo, I suggest you try them.

If you want cameras that can see in the dark, then the Dahua Starlight range can do that.
