DLink DCS-8000 ip camera problems

Post by homelyn »

HI

I am using BI4 with Win10.

I have a DCS-8000 ip cam that I want to use with my BI4.

I know the I address for it, so , when I try to configure BI with the camera it cannot be found using find/inspect even though it I listed in the full list of cameras compatible with BI.

Any ideas guys?

Help would be appreciated

The only things I can think of is...
- Are you specifying he port number also with the ip address?
- Make sure the 'Media/video/RTSP' port is correct. Not sure if this is necessary when using 'Find/Inspect'.
- Make sure the 'Discovery/ONVIF' port number is correct.

If noting else works, You can specificaly choose the make & model.
Last report, speficy Generic ONVIF.

Is the camera Onvif compliant? I don't see that in the specs (I don't have one). If so, does Onvif have to be enabled in the camera's settings? I have a camera that requires that. There is an Onvif Device Manager that is free that could tell you if any cameras on your LAN are compliant, but I think it is sourced out of Russia (if that is a concern). It is listed on Sourceforge. I have used it in a Virtual Machine and it seemed OK. If you are comfortable with Python, you can write your own script. I have one that lists all camera's on the LAN that are Onvif compliant and it is only 3 lines of code, but it does require some libraries to be installed.

These 8000 series D-Link cameras are only compatible with myDlink software and are no longer configurable to communicate with software like BlueIris. I found this the hard way when I purchased a few at Best Buy to replace my aging D-Link cameras.

To date, I have not been able to find a better indoor camera than the D-Link DCS-2530L. They would get the entire with their super wide angle.

I recently purchased a DCS-8000LHV2 so I am not sure if this is the same as your DCS-8000 device or not.

But the following worked for me

Image

username = admin
password = the pin that is displayed on the bottom of the camera body.

Set the path to the following

1080p:
/onvif_camera/profile.0

720p:
/onvif_camera/profile.1
