Setup failed for streaming

Post by jelli23898 »

Hi,

I'm getting the following failures regularly in my log. This is just a sample.

0 1/08/2019 9:02:09 PM NVENC Setup failed: -301 for 'streaming temp 3707412208'
0 2/08/2019 5:19:40 PM NVENC Setup failed: -301 for 'streaming temp 3707416048'
0 2/08/2019 5:39:39 PM NVENC Setup failed: -301 for 'streaming temp 3707416048'
0 2/08/2019 5:40:00 PM NVENC Setup failed: -301 for 'streaming temp 3707416048'
0 2/08/2019 5:40:25 PM NVENC Setup failed: -301 for 'streaming temp 3707416048'
0 2/08/2019 5:40:45 PM NVENC Setup failed: -301 for 'streaming temp 3707416048'

I don't have nvidia hardware, and I can't see where I might have set up nvidia hardware encoding in any of the settings. I've checked in the general settings for the default hardware encoding mode which is set to Intel+PostProc and all cameras have either Default HW enc mode or None (BI selects none for H265 streams it seems).

So does anyone have any idea why I would be getting these NVENC errors?

The error message "NVENC Setup failed: -301" would occur if Blue Iris Hardware accelerated decode was configured for Nvidia NVDEC when your PC doesn't have an Nvidia GPU or doesn't support NVENC or can't handle H.265/H.264+ encoded video from your IP cameras.

Since you clearly stated you don't have a Nvidia GPU and have set Hardware accelerated decode to Intel+PostProc, I am assuming you have an Intel processor and GPU that supports Intel Quick Sync. Providing that you have Intel processor that supports Quick Sync, you should change Hardware accelerated decode to "Intel", not Intel+PostProc in Blue Iris Settings -> Cameras. It is recommended not to use the PostProc option. It is for very small camera loads and in most cases doesn't lessen CPU utilization.

Currently, Intel Quick Sync in Blue Iris does not yet support H.265 or H.264+, so make sure your IP cameras are configured to use H.264. It is possible this is the source of your problem and Blue Iris is logging the wrong error message.
