Just wanted to check that with BI 5.3.1.6 that the correct way to full backup the system is to "Export Settings" on the About screen.
Will this cover the license and all the camera settings?
Confirm Backup Method - Single click?
Re: Confirm Backup Method - Single click?
Yes. Exporting BI settings will backup all BI settings, including all camera settings.
It will NOT backup your cameras recordings.
Are you planning on moving BI to another system?

Re: Confirm Backup Method - Single click?
Thanks Mike.
Yes, i'm building a new PC and plan to migrate my set up to that new system.
The number of camera's and a docker requirement for another app. has the current system of 3 years being overworked.

Re: Confirm Backup Method - Single click?
Be sure to
1. 'Deactivate' BI on your current machine.
2. Install BI on your new machine. Do not start BI yet.
3. Make sure the DB folder(s) exists on your new machine.
4. Load the BI backup reg file.
5. Start BI, and activate. You'll start with an empty DB.
You could copy the bvr recordings over and rebuild. But you won't have any Alerts. You could run each camera thru the Search function 'Find Triggers', and put them back into the Alert list. But, that is a lengthy and time consuming process. I think it needs to be done for each bvr.

Re: Confirm Backup Method - Single click?
Thanks Mike. This helps a lot.
Curious why the DB folder needs migrating (creating) - Is it so BI thinks it's the same machine?

Re: Confirm Backup Method - Single click?
Yes. It's the simplest and quickest way to regain normal functionality. I copy all storage and database folders to the new PC in the same places and follow those instructions.

3, Make sure the same Mount Point exists. For example drive E:, or, a shared folder.
BI will automatically create the folders it needs.
If you want your DB, follow TimG's suggestion.
