Camera freezing/distorting when in full screen

Post by cbm214 »

Relatively new to BI so this is probably a mistake I've made somewhere.

BI version 5.5.3.4 x64 (22/11/2021) running on Win10
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9500 CPU @ 3.00GHz 16GB of RAM

5 x Reolink 810A. When viewing all 5 cameras on the screen at once there's no problem. When I double click on a camera it goes solo view. A few seconds the main stream then kicks in. Not I'm not sure if this is coincidence or not but when it's raining the solo image will start to break up. e.g.

If on the other hand I turn off the option 'Main stream when solo/full screen' so I'm showing the sub stream then the image is fine. Switch back to main stream, the image is distorted again, at this point the camera has to be restarted to clear the distortion. Recording is also effected. When I look at the camera directly using using it's ip address then none of this distortion shows, sounds like a BI issue, a setting somewhere.

Is the rain causing 'too much information'?

The cameras are configured in BI as:

I did try changing the 'Model' to RLC-810A, the cameras failed to start.

Each 810 is set to 15 FPS, 1s interframe space for both Main and Sub stream.

BI server and cameras are on the same PoE HP switch.

PC up to date, latest Intel graphics driver installed.

Any thoughts what's going on? Fixable? Just what happens with 810a's. As mentioned above, it seems to happen when weather is bad. Clear weather all seems ok, most odd.

TIA

Recording is also effected.
Even if you didn't view the video at the time it recorded ?

A few thoughts:

1. Can you view the cameras in a browser or in VLC ? Is HD OK there ?
2. Turn off HA if you are using it and see if it improves.
3. I think we need to see the settings in the cameras themselves.

These Reolinks keep making problems with BI5 !

See the thread from Sam Varghese, where he states that Reolink cameras sometimes work better with a rtmp stream viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2598&p=10297&hilit=reolink#p10297

And the Reolink Gotcha's viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2807 where he has different BI5 settings for the 810A.

In addition to that posted above, try increasing the buffer from 6 to 12 or maybe even 18 in BI to see if that makes a difference.

Also, not to sure if you are but if the cam is running in H265 mode try changing that to H264 with no + or other smart codec settings in the cams GUI.

I also have Reolink RLC-810A cameras (and one RLC-520A camera), and they all exhibit the same pixelization that you see. My camera configuration screen is slightly different than yours, but the result is the same.

I wish we could get a new version of firmware out of Reolink that addresses this issue along with allowing us higher key frame rates, and better stream bit rates at night when the cameras are in black & white mode. I regret purchasing these cameras.
