If I use the cameras overlays and not blue iris overlays for time and date and camera name will it show the overlays using direct to disk when I need to export a recording?

I remember before version 5 it wouldn’t show it if you used the cameras to display the overlays. I would have to use blue iris for it.

Any help.

The ability to regenerate overlays from metadata was added in an early version of BI5.

Yes, if you use your cameras date/time/name overlays, they will appear in the BI recordings and be available when viewing and exporting. This is because they are on the video feed being sent out by the camera, and being received by BI.

In version 5.2.8.1 (May 20 2020), Metadata was added to BI for D2D recordings. This metadata contains any Overlays (as well as other info) for the camera, and can be viewed when playing back video within BI, and included when exporting.

Important note when defining Overlays in BI...
Review option 'Require live display of overlay at the time of recording'. See the BI Help file on page 53....
Even if overlays are disabled for live viewing, they are still written to the BVR file and may be displayed upon
playback unless Require live display of overlay at the time of recording is selected here.
When exporting, and you want to also export Overlays...
A new Export option is available... 'Add text/graphic overlays from direct-to-disc BVR'. You must first enable 'Re-encode' - which will take longer to export.
