What Grinds My Gears (Petter Griffin) - about support questions...

Post by MikeBwca »

What Grinds your Gears?

:? Posts that are...
  • Stating something like 'I added a camera(s) and can't get it working. What do I do?'.
I usually ask for more detail - see the 'long paragraph' below.
  • Stmts saying 'I checked all options and they are all correct'.
Well then! If everything's correct, then there isn't anything we can do for you. Must be an issue outside BI. Sorry.
  • I run 58 12mp cameras at 30fps AND 30fps live preview, and only use 12% cpu and 4% gpu!
    OMG - shoot me now!
  • You need a bigger system. Just buy a new faster desktop!
Seriously? :x Easy fix, eh? You gonna pay for that?
  • One long paragraph detailing the situation and all the things they tried!
I usually just skip those posts. It's just not worth the time, headache, and, bleeding eyes.
  • Adding captures as an external link.
    Seriously! I just skip those.

Now you should realize that I'm 50% serious, and 50% kidding. (But, 99% serious)

Re: It's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it !

After a lifetime of fixing trains, I have the mindset where I relish every chance to beat a new problem, and then know that I have made the world a better place 8-)

The more info the better, even if they are unsure if it is relevant or not. They may write a rambling description of what they have seen. It's my job to make sense of it, and fix the issue.

It's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it
