troubleshooting a new BI 5 installation (virtual machine)

Post by michaelsandy » Sun Mar 19, 2023 3:16 am

Hi, BI (full version, downloaded in January) seems to run fine *until* a camera is added, when some minutes afterwards not only the virtual machine but also the host falls over.
ie the host 'Purple Screens', being VMware ESXi 8.0

How can I troubleshoot this please?
I've looked in the relevant vmware logs but can't determine what is happening.
The last messages In Windows System Logs prior to the last crash, were repeated Warnings about a 'Local Launch' permission problem, as per attached screenshot, and also informational level messages about the Background Intelligent Transfer Service being changed from autostart to demand start.
Windows is Windows 10, 64 bit professional, running on a thin provisioned disk.
No other virtual machines are running.

As an experiment I deleted the default storage which was on C:, in /Blueiris

Due to concerns about computer memory, I replaced the Server Ram with new Ram (16G).
This seemed to pass memtest86+ test but on the 3rd pass the computer rebooted, so I wonder if its worth replacing the MoBo?
Its an X99 chinese clone board with a Xeon E5 2660 V3 chip.

thanks
Michael
Edit: Cameras are HIKvision 8MP running in 1080 mode, 264 codec (not the '+' option), on the same 192.168.1.x network

Worth also checking if the CPU is overheating?

A random restart like that has for me to be a hardware problem especially if the entire host is crashing.

Might be worth removing the RAM sticks and giving the empty slots a blast of compressed air in case there’s any dust/dirt in the contacts.

thanks...good suggestions
CPU temperature was listed as 41 degrees increasing to 51 as memory testing continued so that is ok?
The contacts of the old RAM were quite soiled under magnification, so the slots could need a clean...
