Acessing one BI server cameras from another remote BI server

Post by Pete6 » Sun Feb 05, 2023 6:08 pm

Both my son and I run BI servers. They are working fine and are stable. I wish to access his cameras from my BI server.

Right now I am using TinyCam on my Android phone to view his cameras and this works fine so he has all his porrt forwarding working fine. The problem is that TinyCam uses "Server push (MJPEG)" to deliver the images to my phone. THis transcoding is causing 100% CPU loads on his server. Equally if I access my BI in the same manner I too see high CPU loading during TinyCam sessions.

It therefore seems obvious to access hs cameras from my BI server and view them on UI3 and similarly for him to see my cams via his BI server.

We both use DDNS and non standard IP ports and different BI User/Passwords and this have been exchanged between us.

All the above said, I cannot make this work. In cameras I give the addess as

IP: his-ddns.server.com
PORT: 12345
User: my_User
Password: my_password

All the rest is standard BI access stuff copied from TinyCam.

Any halp is greatly appreciated.
Thanks - Pete

I believe the Blue Iris android app can connect with two BI5 servers, but I haven't tried it.
Also if you have two licenced versions of BI5, then BI5 desktop has the ability to log in to the other installation as if you were sat in front of it. I guess that would give you full control of the other installation though.
