It seems there is a lag of when the recording switches to the HighRes version when playing back events.
I am not in need of saving hard drive space with a lowerRes version and there are times you want to review the timeline in the HighRes mode.
When I disable the lowerRes on multiple cameras the CPU has to work harder to process events. Is there a way to enable the lowerRes and record the HighRes 100% of the time during Continuous + Alerts?
It seems to record the HighRes when Continuous is selected, but if I want triggers or Alerts, then it drops to the lowerRes when it's not activated by an event.
Thank you.
Recording HighRes version for playback of events
Re: Recording HighRes version for playback of events
I have my cameras set up continuous+alerts which records substream and alerts are main stream. I also have a clone of each camera "hidden" so doesn't show in live view set up as continuous. This records main stream and I use it as a backup so anything I catch or do do not catch is there is full res, just in case.
Using clones does not really use any more resources other than disk space which you say is not an issue.
Hope that helps

Thank you ducem, that is a reasonable work around. It would be nice to have an option to "Record only using MainStream.", but event detection could use substream for less CPU usage.ducem wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 10:56 am I have my cameras set up continuous+alerts which records substream and alerts are main stream. I am assuming that you set the clone to not have Motion or AI detection to limit the CPU usage and just setup the MainStream.
Thank you for the suggestion.
Re: Recording HighRes version for playback of events
My Drivecam is set to "continuous", with "Record dual streams if available" checked. Playing back video from Alerts, or from between Alerts is still in the main high res stream, unless I deliberately choose "Use sub stream if available" which has a very visible effect.

Thank you. After some additional playing around I was starting to realize I made the improper assumption that the "Continuous + Alerts" was the only way to get Alerts marked in the timeline.
I am finding that in the "Continuous" mode I get the High Res stream, yet the Alerts and Triggers/AI detection is still happening without effecting the CPU usage too much. It seems that the Continuous + Alerts and such are ways to save Harddrive space by saving the lower res stream when no activity is detected. This is great for many users but a few of us do like the high res all the time.
I appreciate you confirming what I was just starting to realize and I now feel much better.
