2 copies of same camera - different alerts

Post by fleetmack »

Can I make a copy of a camera, so basically 2 differently-named instances of the same camera, and have different alert rules apply to each version? I can't seem to get this to work in v4. If v5 will fully support this, I'd strongly consider updating.

Version 5 can do what you want, all you need to do is clone the camera

v4 lets me clone the camera as well, but I am noticing it treats the alerts/triggers the same even with a different name. I'd hate to upgrade to have this not work as the software does literally everything else I've ever needed, but this would be worth the upgrade. I still don't understand why it doesn't work in v4.

You can download V5 and demo it for 2 weeks to see if will work for you. I know in V5 the main camera needs clone master checked and the cloned camera not checked.

I have 3 of my cams cloned. The master cams are configured for external ONVIF triggers and alerts, I use the IVS feature of the cams to detect cars or people which is so much more reliable then anything else that I have tested including Deepstack.

The clones are set for simple BI motion detection.

So completely different set of rules on the masters and clones.
