Camera Triggered Even When Motion Sensor Disabled

Post by mgreinke »

Sorry if this post is in the wrong location because I'm still running BI 4....

I have a standalone outdoor motion sensor that I use as an external source to trigger a camera whenever motion is detected. In BI I've made sure the motion sensor check box is clear because I don't want to use BI for the motion detection. For some really strange reason BI will trigger the motion sensor when a bug crawls across the lens. I have no idea why BI is still triggering on motion when that option is turned off for that camera. Also, its only an insect crawling across the lens that triggers BI to record. No other activity in the camera field of view causes a motion trigger.

Any experts out there know why this could be happening?

Double check that, if you're using schedules, that they are changing the active profile when you think they are, and that motion detection is turned off in all the profiles where you want it off. In your screenshot, it's off in the Home profile. Are you sure Home is the active profile when you're seeing the unwanted triggers?
