Hello.

A new user here, bought the program couple month ago after researching and trying bunch of software, mostly by following recommendations on ipcatalk forum...

Let's say that I'm not a complete noob and know a think or two about ip cams and software in general. Still few rather embarrassing questions for starters:

1. There is no way to update the software. The program can't update itself and refuses to install updates downloaded manually. This is a bit annoying. Is there any hidden switch or tutorial how to install the latest version over existing one?

p.s. Assuming I have some sort of support with my purchase, and knowing that BI is a one-man operation, I expected to get a reply from a developer. Unfortunately the answers I've got were "double click exe file" for (1) and "why would anyone want to do this" for (2). Shame...

Any help would be welcome.

What version are you currently running and have you paid for it yet and does it show you still have time before the support expires or are you running the demo? If you bought it and entered the license key and have support left it should update itself just by clicking update in the check for updates main setting window then hitting ok and letting it do it's thing for a few minutes.

Yes, paid on support. It doesn't update - just downloads itself and does nothing.

Manually running update presents the dialog that BI is already installed.

On that first screen I have both the bottom two options checked (which shouldn't matter) and just hit Ok then Ok on the settings window and it updates. You could try updating to the latest critical or highly stable version then go up from there if that works. I know I saw a few people say that updates didn't work for them from one version a while back but I thought that was 5.3.7 or something like that. For them downloading the correct update from https://blueirissoftware.com/updates/ worked if I remember correctly.

On the second capture, it appears your not executing the update... but the full install - which will give you that message that BI is already installed.

There is a few version way back that the updates did not work thru BI.

Go to the BI website, Support/Updates, and download an run the latest update... https://blueirissoftware.com/updates/


Apparently, the latest update on the BI website is listed as 5.4.2.5 released on 4/14.
I just updated to version 5.4.3.9 earlier today!
At least it's a new version. Maybe the update thru BI will work after 5.4.2.5.
