Remote control via PLC

Hi, new BI user here. I have a project I am working on and I am looking for some general pointers. I would like to control a BI setup of four cameras to record events controlled by a PLC. I would like to start / stop the cameras via the PLC to coordinate the capture, as well as set the file names of the resulting captures. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
