I just bought Blue Iris to try it out as a replacement for my current system. Before spending all this time switching my cameras over, I'm simply trying to set up reliable remote access. I've set this up on many systems in the past via port forwarding or other methods, no problem there. For Blue Iris, I decided to try ZeroTier to avoid opening ports. It works great.
Now on to my problem. I decided to purchase the $10 iOS app after watching a few videos about the setup of the app. I was concerned it didn't have the ability to detect Wan/Lan connections and auto switch between them. Much to my surprise, it apparently has this feature. I downloaded the app, set Lan to my internal IP, wan to the ZeroTier IP and was on my way. The problem I'm having is that the app takes upwards of 10 minutes to realize that I've switched between Wan and Lan. I'm doing this by simply turning Wi-Fi on and off. When performing this test using safari or chrome, I instantly connect to the webserver. However I'm controlling what IP I connect to. When Wi-Fi is on, I connect to the internal IP, when Wi-Fi is off I connect to the ZeroTier IP. That works instantly, without issue. The app on the other hand, just does not auto detect anything. Restarting the app, force closing the app, ((jamming the connect button 8394823 times EDIT: I was wrong, this seems to work)). It always sits and spins. Finally after about 10 to 15 minutes, it magically connects.
I work on an open source software that has this same functionality, it instantly understands the difference between Wan and Lan on iOS. It's a glorified web browser, so you simply just refresh the page and it will reconnect.
I'm just wondering what is causing this 10 minute slowdown and can I get around it? Is there a hidden option to allow me to choose Wan/Lan on the connection screen? Are there any other settings that will overcome this seemingly simple obstacle?
Unfortunately, this is most likely going to be a deal breaker for my spouse if I can't figure this out.

Replying to my old post. Hammering the cancel/connect button in the app appears to force the swap. I've tested it a few times and my spouse is Okay with this. Seems odd though.

Update:
I'm really starting to get fed up with this. Hammering the connect button no longer works.
This app simply cannot switch between Lan and Wan properly.
I've also noticed that the Wan IP gets completely wiped out for no apparent reason.
I'm about to do a chargeback on this app because it can't handle a simple function that other apps handle fine.

Sorry to hear that. I compared your ZT app settings to mine (Android) and I can't see anything wrong there. I guess the mobile phone app just isn't designed for that. Good luck with whatever you decide to use.
