Zerotier

Post by tardigrade »

I've seen a few comments about using Zerotier VPN to access BI outside of home network; can anyone answer some questions? My phone says connected to server but something is blocking BI information. Neither the phone BI web nor App can find the BI server. This is outside my home network using cellular network. Inside my home network everything works fine. We have other VPNs on other PCs (work) that function without issue (even the wife's finicky work VPN). Any clues where to start? I posted on the Zerotier board but no response yet over there.

Not sure it this is helpful:

I have been using ZeroTier since day 1. I have no interest in playing with a router and potentially leaving myself open security-wise.

@mpoczynek

Good video, it's quite helpful but sound goes away at 12 minutes right when he is telling where to find the WAN address in Zerotier to put in the Blue Iris app. Do you recall which is the WAN address in Zerotier?

Hi, the LAN ***AND*** WAN address for the Android BI5 app is the ZeroTier IP address (with the port) for the main BI5 server PC.

The http is already there, so just that IP and port:

LAN (http://) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:81

WAN (http://) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:81

It works at home and away for me.

Thanks

Still not sure what I'm missing; Zerotier says it's connected but I'm not getting any data into the BI app. Inside my home network it works fine with our without Zt. Even went through my phone to make sure Orbot, Lookout, and any other VPN are disabled but still not luck.

Can you Ping the mobile ZT IP from the BI5 pc ? That will prove the connection. I'm assuming they are both enabled on the ZT web page.
