I fired this thing up today and ran some comparisons with my old PC.

Zip up the /home directory and transfer to the NAS
Old PC: 45 to 55 seconds
New PC: 8 seconds

Run a complex transform in GIMP
Old PC: ~2 minutes
New PC: ~18 seconds

Convert a .DOC to .PDF (9.5Mb source)
Old PC: ~70 seconds
New PC: ~20 seconds

Yowza, I can live with this, lol.

A3000: Good point about the electrolytic capacitors. There are likely to be a few in the power supply too, and that would finish off the entire chip set if they have failed and you power it up. The barrel batteries are bad enough, as they leak and eat away the pcb traces. As an absolute miniumum, get rid of the battery

New PC: I thought your old pc should be fast, but that is some speed up. Maybe it could handle THREE NICs
